Number Line Addition Game

Small hops make addition and subtraction visible.

Play now →

Frog Hop is a free number-line game for children ages 6–9. Move Pip between numbered lily pads, watch each jump become an equation, and check the landing against the challenge.

How to play

  1. Choose Numbers to 10, 20, or 30. Read the starting number and the change.
  2. Tap a numbered lily pad or use the jump buttons. Adding moves right; subtracting moves left. More jumps reveals larger steps.
  3. Follow the arrows and equation, then choose Check hops. You can adjust a wrong landing and try again.

A worked example

For 3 + 4, start at 3 and move four spaces right: 4, 5, 6, 7. Land on 7. For 9 − 3, move three spaces left from 9 to land on 6.

Three trails to explore

What to notice

A hop measures a change. The starting pad is not one of the spaces traveled. If a landing is one too high or low, recount the spaces and compare the equation with the arrows.

A little help when it matters

Every game has a step-by-step “How to play” guide, optional spoken instructions, and hints that explain mistakes. Five challenges earn a medal saved on the device. There are no time limits or penalties for trying again.

Try this together

Ask the player to predict the landing before moving. Count the spaces between pads, rather than counting the starting pad as the first hop.
